For the study, two research objectives and two research questions were posed. A descriptive survey research design was used in the study. 335 Business Education students from Kwara State's three education colleges made up the study's population. The study's population is manageable, thus a total of 335 respondents were used. The measuring instrument comprises 20 questionnaire items structured research questions raised for the study. The instrument for data collection was validated by two research experts in the field of business and entrepreneurship education. In other to determine the reliability coefficient of the instrument, the instrument was pilot tested at Federal College of Education, Kontagora, Niger State using 20 business education lecturers outside the study area who were not part of the study. Cronbach alpha which the results showed a 0.83 reliability coefficient. Data collected were analyzed using simple arithmetic mean and simple percentage methods of data analysis. According to the study, there are several obstacles that Entrepreneurship Education in Kwara State's Colleges of Education must overcome. These include inadequate planning and education policies, a lack of funding, and a lack of emphasis from the National Commission for Colleges of Education and other government agencies on the implementation of Entrepreneurial Education. On the difficulties in implementing entrepreneurship education, professors' opinions did not, however, differ significantly. It was suggested that all tiers of government work to secure funding for the introduction of entrepreneurship education. Qualified vocational and technical teachers who are fluent in both theory and practice should be hired to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Entrepreneurship Education. This will help students become self-sufficient and contribute their fair share to economic development after graduation.
2024-11-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 https://ijem.org.ng/index.php/ijbe/article/view/239BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR STUDENTS THROUGH EFFECTIVE SCHOOL–INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP IN KANO STATE, NIGERIA2024-11-23T17:43:28+00:00Rilwan Daramoladaramolarilwan65@gmail.comSulayman Dauda Gidadosdgidado@yahoo.co.ukDavid Akintunde Akinlabinoemail@ijbe.com
This research was conducted to ascertain the influence of business education programme in building students' capacity through effective school-industry partnerships in Kano State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design was used by the researchers. The study's population comprised 122 business education lecturers in two Federal Colleges of Education in Kano State, Nigeria. The whole population was considered for the study without a sample because it was not large and a structured four-point rating scale questionnaire was utilised for the collection of data. The research questions were answered with the aid of Mean and standard deviation, while the null hypotheses were tested with z-test at 0.05 level of significance. The Findings of the study revealed that some of the available business education programmes for school-industry partnership are effective for students' capacity building while some are ineffective and there are numerous constraints to effective school-industry partnership for capacity building. Furthermore, there were no significant differences in the opinions of the lecturers in FCE(T), Bichi and those in FCE, Kano in terms of the effectiveness of the available programmes for building the capacity of the students through school-industry partnership and the constraints to effective collaboration between the industry and the school for students' capacity building. In line with the findings, the study concluded that the practical experiences acquired by students of business education from SIWES and teaching practice were not adequate to make them function effectively in the real work situation. As a way forward, the study suggested that the industry and the academic institutions should effectively collaborate to improve students' practical skills that are needed by employers of labour, schools should create liaison offices to close the communication gap between them and the industry, government should encourage partnership between the school and the industry and the Association of business educators of Nigeria (ABEN) should constantly be organising seminars, workshops and conferences for business education lecturers and the industry in order to make them know the benefits of such partnerships.
2024-11-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 https://ijem.org.ng/index.php/ijbe/article/view/240ENTREPRENEURIAL AND DIGITAL SKILLS NEEDED TO STEM THE TIDE OF YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA2024-11-23T17:52:37+00:00Edward Gbadebo Adewoleadewoleeg2016@gmail.com
Unemployment occurs where citizens find it difficult to secure a job to earn a living. The problem of unemployment should be taken seriously by the government at all levels. The unemployment reduction strategies of the community should be implemented appropriately to curb youth restiveness and communal clashes in the communities. It is suggested that government should focus on retaining on smaller, well-targetschemes for recognizable areas of skill shortage and working-for-yourselfprogrammes-capable strategies to solve or reduce the rate of unemployment among youth to the bearest minimum. This in turn will drastically reduce youth restiveness. In addition, government should improve capacity building and create job opportunities, to increase the rate of employment among youths in the society, which will reduce restiveness among the youth in the society. Besides, government should intensify efforts to promote training programmes and small scale businesses of these communities to complement the unemployment reduction strategies.
2024-11-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024
